@carliegarv: We have had pretty much the same amount of enquiries regardless if I’ve designed the poster myself or used AIs help 🤔 #dogwalker #dogwalkers #dogwalkeruk #dogwalkersuk #dejavu
As a customer who sees pubs advertise their events using AI I just think it’s just lazy and lack of thought to be honest, I can’t help it, that’s just how I feel. I don’t even bother reading the small writing as I feel they haven’t put any effort into it and as a business lack of effort isn’t something you want to advertise. The AI adverts just look shit.

I’ve got to be honest, I do highly dislike AI generated leaflets/posters and I do think it looks really unprofessional and lazy. They all look the same, and so I absolutely would scroll right past it as it simply doesn’t stand out to me. I have a newer business near me, who hasn’t posted one single post about the actual dogs - it’s entirely AI generated posts which I think it’s super lazy. Obvs everyone has different opinions, and I’d never shame them at all because I’m not a bitch but I’m not a fan personally!!!

I actually hate dog walking accounts that ‘call’ out other dog walkers on silly things like this that aren’t hurting anyone , no wonder people think we’re an awful community x

I spent a fortune getting professional leaflets made and got hardly any business from them so I can see what people choose to do them in AI. Better to spend that money on other more important things for the business

It's a tough one as I can see it from both sides.
I do understand why people think many ai posters have that "tacky" vibe or that they all look the same. I sometimes feel that way myself.
But you've also made some really good points. Not everyone can afford to hire someone to create posters & logos for them or are able to create them themselves.
I use canva ai to create base designs which I then build off of putting my own spin on them and hopefully making them stand out against others which I think is a good way to go about it. Using ai as an aid rather than allowing it to do all the work.

As a fellow dog business owner I completely understand the desire to reduce admin and marketing time where you can and have definitely used AI to occasionally do this. However, I do think it’s a shame how much AI is starting to remove the personality from some businesses.
For me, your personality is a huge part of your brand, especially in service-based industries like dog walking etc. where people are buying into you as much as the service itself. If everything is AI-generated such as posters, social media posts, client responses, etc. you can start to lose what makes your business unique.
I think AI can be a great tool when used to support a business, but not replace what makes your business your business. I’d completely understand why a potential client might struggle to connect with a business if they never really get a sense of the person behind it. But I will never slag another business off for using it, I just think they are missing out by doing it all of the time.

I use chat GPT but I’m very specific when I’m asking it to create stuff because I don’t want it to look like the generic AI stuff that people churn out. I take ages describing what I want

I don’t agree with using AI to advertise, simply because it takes away from creatives that were previously paid for it - small businesses. Especially if you yourself are a small business, I think that’s why it gives people a bad vibe. Wouldn’t go out of my way to moan about it though 🤷🏼♀️

Dog walkers slagging other dog walkers off for purely trying to advertise and get more work is tacky and unprofessional, if I was a customer and saw that it would be a huge put off. X

It is completely sensible. Tools are there to be used.

The amount of time people spend complaining about businesses using AI is baffling. Every major technological shift has been met with the same reaction:
It’s cheating
It will ruin the industry
Real professionals don’t use it
Then, a few years later, everyone is using it.
AI is just another tool. Like Photoshop, Canva, smartphones, or digital cameras were before it.
The businesses that embrace new tools will usually outperform those who spend their time criticising them.
Judge the results, not the process.
