I needed to see this. I’m 3 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding has been a struggle since we needed to give baby formula because his jaundice numbers were so high for almost 2 weeks. I’m hoping to reach my breastfeeding goals 🤍

I successfully breastfed my son for 13.5 months! If you would have told me when he was 3 weeks old that we would make it that far I would have said you were lying. Those early weeks are soooo hard. You’re doing great!

success is whatever works for baby....not what mom wants. The lactation consultant industry needs to stop pushing a guilt trip.on moms who work with how their babies feed easiest for them.. "how I want it to look" is selfish. its not about the mom.

I had to give formula for the first time last night because I couldn’t pump enough during the day for the first time (my son is 12 days old) and I just sobbed. :( Thank you for this. I’m glad I’m not alone

I think my first had feeding issues, but I also had an overactive letdown & oversupply so she was getting more than enough regardless of her latch and milk transfer ability. I was in PAIN from her latch for a month! Thankfully as she got older her latch improved!

This 🙋♀️!! This is EXACTLY what im going through right now! 5 day old baby boy who refuses to nurse! Ive tried everything and am trying to be patient, but its been so hard. Having to pump and then feed (double duty) is very overwhelming. And it does not help that my mother is giving me a hard time about "not being patient enough" to nurse. Which is not thee issue. I just refuse to traumatize my child trying to get him to nurse. Trying to force him to nurse when he is screaming his head off is not how i wanted to get him to nurse.
If you get any new tips or tricks, please send them my way. I would appreciate it so much.

I’m an IBCLC and my baby had terrible transfer and now we’re seeing one of my coworkers for support. Currently I’m exclusively pumping and we’re having to supplement with formula. I absolutely understand what you’re going through.

Mom!!!!!! You got this! You are controlling what you can. You are doing this with love my only ask is that you also tell yourself that it will get better and you will succeed.

Sounds like the curse of the “nurse” has been busy over the last 5 days. I just watched my son and daughter in law go through this process with jaundice, formula, weight gain etc and two months in, he’s breast and bottle fed with breast milk. Both of you are going through a huge transition and you’re doing great. Congratulations

The first two weeks breastfeeding is so difficult and it’s not discussed enough nor is there good support. There should be a hotline that hospitals provide

I’m totally relived because my 4 week old will not do his job and eat lol. He’s got reflux, he’s a lazy eater and cmpa. 😭 breastfeeding seems impossible.

Thank you for this I have so much mom guilt my baby has elevated bilirubin and had to be under the light for 2 nights I feel so guilty that I wasn’t feeding her enough and caused the jaundice she had a shallow latch and it was so so painful i definitely wasn’t feeding her often enough or letting her stay latched long enough and now I feel sick to my stomach about it all

Give baby some time she is new here, it took 3 weeks for me and my babygirl to get it together, once her jaundice went away she had the energy to eat.
