I think they found each other at the right time but held on too long. I think he saw her as a person instead of The Taylor Swift and she really needed that. He’s a very private person and I think he supported her and loved her through a really dark time and I think when she was ready to be The Taylor Swift again, he didn’t want that. And who knows what kind of work they tried to do on their relationship. I think she felt like she’d put too much time and love into it to just give up but something happened that made her finally realize things weren’t going to get better. Matty was the rebound guy she should have had a fling with back in 1989 era. She was probably thrilled by the butterflies and excitement and love bombing and it made her a little delusional. I think that’s part of why it seemed like her hurt her worse. She’s already grieved the loss of her relationship with Joe but wasn’t healed from it so Matty pretty much cut her wings and kicked her while she was down. She probably was also embarrassed and felt really stupid about being so public with him. And now with Travis, he loves and appreciates The Taylor Swift but he wanted to know her as a person. To him, she’s a person who can be The Taylor Swift but that isn’t all she is. He’s able to change gears with her. He can be loud and public and excited with her when she needs that but he can also sit at home and watch movies and talk and eat sourdough when she needs to. She’s always wanted to be loved out loud and accepted and that’s what his family does for her too. Thank you for reading my TedTalk.
