@mistithorpe: 🚨 WHEN YOUR DAUGHTER TEXTS YOU AND SAYS, “HOMICIDE DETECTIVES ARE AT MY WORK…” 🚨 I was planning to cover a completely different case today when my daughter sent me a text that immediately stopped me in my tracks. She told me homicide detectives had just arrived at her workplace, asking nearby businesses if they had surveillance footage that could help with an active homicide investigation. Thankfully, detectives weren’t there because anything had happened at her job—they were simply looking for any video that might help piece together what happened in a nearby fatal shooting. That investigation is connected to the death of 29-year-old Aaron Williams Jr. Here’s what investigators have confirmed so far. 📍 What Happened? According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers responded to a report of a shooting Saturday morning near Marion-Franklin Park on the city’s south side. When officers arrived, they found Aaron Williams Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased. His death has been ruled a homicide. At this time, investigators have not publicly identified any suspect, and they have not released information about what may have led to the shooting. 🎥 Why Are Detectives Looking for Surveillance Footage? One of the first things homicide investigators do is canvass the area surrounding a crime scene. That means knocking on doors, speaking with residents and business owners, and requesting surveillance footage from security cameras that may have captured something important. Even if a camera didn’t record the actual shooting, it could have captured: * A vehicle entering or leaving the area * Someone walking nearby * Activity before or after the incident * A timeline that helps investigators reconstruct what happened Sometimes the smallest detail becomes the break detectives need to solve a case. ❤️ A Family Is Now Searching for Answers While investigators continue following leads, a family is grieving the loss of a loved one, and detectives are working to determine exactly what happened. Cases like this are often solved because someone remembers seeing something unusual or because a security camera captured a detail no one realized was important at the time. ☎️ If You Know Something… If you have information about this homicide—or if you have surveillance footage from the area that may assist investigators—please contact: 📞 Columbus Police Homicide Unit (614) 645-4730 📞 Central Ohio Crime Stoppers (614) 461-TIPS (8477) You can also submit an anonymous tip through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.
