My husband has to sign a waiver for a FANCY rich property he was bartending at for an event. The waiver said that if he gets hurt on their property, not only can he not sue, his kids can’t sue, and his potential grandkids can’t sue! Is that legal? How do you waive rights for people that don’t exist? Lol

The Angelina/Brad stuff is so dense. I believe he was/is an addict and that assault on the plane probably did happen to a large degree how it’s been disclosed. But I also see he went to rehab and 12 step meetings to work on his sobriety/recovery from his addiction. It is strange how enmeshed the kids are with her and how much her entire existence is centered around them and that can be a lot of pressure on a child. I think kids tend to take the side of their primary caregiver. It happens a lot in divorced marriages. And the youngest take direction or model their older siblings behavior, and I believe he had an immediate falling out with their oldest. (I’m neither a Brad nor Angelina fan). I just think there’s a lot of grey there.

Great podcast, for Marciano… I truly believe it shouldn’t be allowed to waive you rights to be accused of a crime. Being “portrayed in an unfavorable light” is far different than being accused of a crime.

I don't know about the allegations against BP but I do understand the psychology of alienation and I work with mothers and fathers who have experienced it. Certain personality types (BPD being one) emotionally cut off after separation and decide they are all bad (splitting). Their own abandonment wounds then drive them to pull the children unhealthily close (enmeshment). Enmeshed children then experience something called a shared persecutory delusion (i.e. they see the other parent as all bad/alienating parent as all good). The kids are showing those warning signs (absence of grief being particularly pertinent i think - they had lots of years of a good relationship with him). That doesn't mean BP is innocent but the kids own behaviour are definitely red flags of alienation for me.

I dont have an opinion on Angelina/Brad bc I don't know any actual facts. I do find it strange that one by one the kids are announcing dropping his name. It feels a little dramatic the way its happening. 🤷♀️

As a mother who’s child has a father that is an alcoholic, there was a time I tried to keep by child from going to dad’s house. But when he cleaned himself up, I did urge my child to have a relationship with her dad. Even though he was a nightmare to me, I did not what my words to come back to haunt me and my child ask why my words swayed her opinion and relationship with her dad. I had that happen to me and it’s not fair to the children.

💯 Agree with your take that Brad and Angelina are both kind of wrong! I don't think anyone involved fits neatly into a hero or villain role. Both can be held accountable, both can have valid perspectives, and both can and do have flaws! And I've always thought it's fair to consider someone's history, if a person has a pattern of becoming involved with people who are already in relationships, some people may question their judgment, values, and how they view honesty 😏 growing up, I dreamed about changing my surname plenty of times 😂

Hmm Angelina isn’t perfect for sure, but if that’s how I and my children were treated… whatever way she’s decided to retaliate is fair game to me tbh. Maybe a better question of whether her response has been proportionate to the damage he caused.

I can attest that grandparent alienation is a real thing that I experienced, if it wasn’t for my husband and I, our grandchildren would’ve wound up in foster care because their mother was that bad of a mother. We had them a majority of the time and their younger lives and now through many years of not allowing us to see them they have grown up believing things that never happened, so I can attest that those kids grew up, believing whatever she told them.

I’m not an expert, from what I know he did what the court asked him to do as far as therapy, supervised visits and substance abuse treatment. The private judge they both agreed to hire was ready to give him more custody rights because he did all these things and Angelina immediately got the judge fired for a sketchy reason setting everything back months if not years. If he did change it might have been better for those kids to have been given the chance to improve their relationship with him. Especially since they were adopted and had experienced a lot of loss in their lives already. If it didn’t work, that would be more understandable to me. Was he terrible enough to justify her going to such extreme lengths? I don’t know.
