That happened to me before. What probably happen is that someone missed the flight so you get the seat. American Airlines offered me $400 to take a late flight and when I sat and wait someone didn’t show up and I had to take my seat. No money😂😅

She should have told you that it isn’t 100% guaranteed. If the flight breaks, meaning someone doesn’t show up for their flight, then you automatically get that seat.
