Mot didn’t cause the crash faulty airbag and seatbelt light would not have caused the car to swerve off the road the police just want someone to blame so that they don’t look bad for taking so long to find them

If the airbag light wasn’t present at the time of the mot it’s not a fail. The amount of folk that use a cheap obd to cancel lights prior to a test is common. This is the scenario here by looks of it

All that should happen is he should lose his MOT license. The crash is ALL DOWN TO THE DRIVER. THE FACT THAT THEY WENT UNDISCOVERED IS JUST UNFORTUNATE 🙄

yes the mot tester pasted a faulty car. the owner did nothing to then fix it. and the faults had nothing to do with the reckless driver. Remember cars didn't have air bags some years ago.

passing a car that failed on a probable sensor and telling the owner to sort it is harsh on the MOT guy if he gets severe punishment. he shouldn't have done it but its minor tbf. it's not steering, brakes or structural. I'm all for sending cowboy garages to hell for some of the passed cars I've had. but a sensor and being told about it would be great. I've bought some full mot cars that are un road worthy. I'm talking wheel bearings, warped disks, low pads no wiper rubber, bushes, handbrake not grabbing. some things you don't look for or expect, even experienced buyers. to sum up, drivers fault 100% even if he knew nothing about it, he was drunk and off his head

Because the airbag light is on the seat belt will still operate as normal..the airbag warning light means there is a fault with the system..

I’m in the car trade, most repaired cars have a lot of dodgy repairs and most of them do end up with a dodgy MOT, do not ever buy a cat C car

unfortunately an mot certificate was issued when it shouldnt have. when death is involved this is a warning over fraud. the text message confirmed that. a warning over what happens

so nothing to do with how the fella was driving then 🤦. likely driving so fast that even at the point of impact the airbags wouldn't have saved them . if the airbag wasn't on at the point of MOT then it's not a fail. it does sound like it may have been though and the owner was told to repair it . he already had a couple of weeks to get it sorted .
