@thesunnahguy: One of the easiest ways to spot an insincere person is to pay attention to what they consistently talk about. The convo will almost always end up being about gossip They'll make you feel like they're protecting you. "He said this about you." "Watch out for her." "You don't know what they're really like." It feels like loyalty. But it isn't. Because people who constantly expose the faults of others are quietly showing you what they'll eventually do with yours. The Prophet ﷺ warned us about this long before social media ever existed. He said: "The gossiper will not enter Paradise." (Bukhari & Muslim) Why? Because gossip doesn't just damage reputations. It destroys trust. It turns friendships into suspicion, families into strangers, and communities into people who are constantly looking over their shoulder. If someone genuinely wants the best for you, they'll remind you to improve yourself, they will defend others, even when it doesn’t serve their interests. They won't spend every conversation pulling somebody else apart. Protect your heart from people who make you feel important by giving you someone else to look down on. Because the same tongue that makes you feel special today... May use your name to make someone else feel special tomorrow.
