the series of unfortunate events books honestly have a level of complexity to them that i didn’t really notice until i reread them again as an adult that’s lived life a little lol a lot of “plot twists” were written very well in my opinion and the story progressed in a very interesting way. all of that to say, i think it’s the perfect series to do exactly as you said. meet them where they are to get them where you want them!
