@iamkhadijaomar: Meet Khadija Omar, the first ever Miss Cosmo Somalia. If there’s one thing that defines Khadija, it’s her endless curiosity. If something inspires her, she’ll spend hours learning, researching, and teaching herself until she understands it. She has never been someone who waits until she feels ready. She believes that if a dream has been placed in your heart, God has already prepared a path for it. You simply have to be courageous enough to take the first step. Born in a refugee camp in Kenya as a Somali refugee, Khadija immigrated to Canada as a child believing that where you begin should never determine where you can go. That belief led her to become Somalia’s first representative at Miss World, the country’s first contestant at Miss Universe, and now the first woman to represent Somalia at Miss Cosmo. Recognized by York University as a notable alumna for her leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact, Khadija is the founder of @houseofhooyo_ , a luxury fashion house rooted in Somali heritage and African craftsmanship. More than a fashion brand, it was created to celebrate African artistry while helping fund education and humanitarian initiatives across Africa. As a Smile Train Africa Ambassador, Khadija advocates for children born with cleft conditions. She is also the founder of When Africa Rises, All Women Rise, an Elevate International humanitarian initiative developed in partnership with UNICEF Canada Ambassador, Solange Tuyishime Keita to help advance education and opportunity for girls across Africa. Together, they are building long-term initiatives that invest in girls, communities, and lasting change. Khadija believes every woman deserves the freedom to become exactly who she was created to be, to dream without limits, lead with courage, and choose her own path with confidence. Today, Khadija carries Somalia with pride, but her dream reaches far beyond one flag. She hopes every young person, especially across Africa, sees their own possibilities reflected in her journey.
