A Florida judge set a $1 million bond Monday for NFL defensive back Terrion Arnold for an alleged abduction plot that targeted three men Arnold wrongly accused of stealing from him. Judge Christopher Sabella, who is the chief judge in Florida's 13th Judicial Circuit in Tampa, was going to require Arnold wear an ankle monitor, but he changed his mind after Arnold's lawyer said doing so would prevent him from playing in games and practices. "He would not be allowed on the field because of danger to the other players, in terms of tackling, in terms of him when he hits somebody, cutting people," said defense attorney Harvey Steinberg. The Detroit Lions released Arnold this afternoon (Monday, June 29). The judge said he was "reluctantly" forgoing the ankle monitor because "I suspect that Mr. Arnold has a paparazzi monitor. If he's late for practice, ESPN will let us know. If he disappears, the world will know before he knows. If he shows up on a beach in Tahiti, he'll be on social media. If he violates the conditions of his bond, he will be found, because they will find you, and you will come back, because the law will bring you back, and then you will sit with no bond until your trial in this case. Do you understand that, Mr. Arnold?" "Yes, sir," said Arnold, who was drafted in the first round by the Detroit Lions in 2024. Prosecutors allege Arnold, 23, had three men in their late teens, including his driver, held at gunpoint in a Tampa apartment in February, where they were pistol-whipped and beaten. Arnold suspected the men stole luxury items and $100,000 in cash from him. Arnold is one of seven co-defendants in the case. He was arrested on June 24 on charges of four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. The Lions released Arnold this afternoon (Monday, June 29). #law #court #crime
