Avid readers, but also people with ADHD have a tendency to automatically skip over “filler” content because your brain is so good at pattern recognition that you don’t need all of the data to form a conclusion . It’s also why people with ADHD tend to cut people off in conversation, they’ve already finished the other person sentence in their head.

I often have to cover the next page up with my hand to ensure my traitorous eyes don’t skip ahead. 👀

Sometimes I scan ahead and skip a few words or sentences and then I go back because I just have to read all the words

I do that. Especially if they are over explaining anything. If it doesn’t get to the point in 4 sentences or less, I will jump ahead. I do not need to read 3 paragraphs to explain the characters chartreuse blouse.

I do that when I see there's conversation coming up. I want to see what they are going to say and get ahead of myself.

I will also read several pages while also somehow zoning out while thinking about something that happened in the book and then have to reread what I just read.....

I sometimes skip a few pages or chapters and when I felt like I missed information or new characters or plot comes in, I came back to the original page.

I don't skip parts but I do do something that's kindove hard to describe. Ill get distracted by something either external from the book or I'll think about a tangent related to the story, meanwhile I'm still "reading" the words on the page but I'm not comprehending them, it's as though my brain subconsciously continues reading but I'm not consciously understanding it. so I then have to go back and find the last place I actually remember reading and start over from there
