My mother's friend's husband was drafted and served in Vietnam. by the time I actually met him - he stayed with my family during hurricane Sandy in 2013 - he could barely speak, because the agent Orange he was exposed to essentially destroyed his lungs as well as his laryngeal pharyngeal function. it was nearly impossible for him to eat food or swallow. he passed away several years after that, and I always remember thinking to myself, was anybody ever held responsible for the way that both sides of the war suffered because of this biochemical trrsm
