Yes as someone in my 40’s, I can tell you a lot of adults stay emotionally stunted and never grow and learn from life lessons to become emotionally healthy. They say around 80% of people are not self aware and it becomes evident once you start speaking to them.

That’s why I never give advice. I’ve been through a lot and learned from my own mistakes. You do you boo, learn as you go. If we had a recipe for success we would be using on ourselves :)

There’s a 50 year old woman in every office that is beefing with a pretty younger employee for no reason.

They don’t care. They just have fun. If you have talent, the talented senior people will support you and your growth - men or women - After years, I’m 28, I finally got a female boss which is mentoring me, giving me advice on career and for my growth plan. This said - at the beginning she didn’t like me she thought I was a pretty girl just doing the bare minimum… it took time to create trust. (She was hired later and found an already formed)

I will gladly tell you my story, tell you what I think but it is ultimately up to the younger women to take what may be helpful from that.

This is a fair critique. And that inability to judge character is also the way the old men take advantage of young women too. In my experience, this also happens with young women, where they aren’t actually rooting for you, but they are young, they can learn. Same with young men. Making stupid mistakes from inexperienced youth is different than us olds doing the same.

I'm turning 30 in 3 months, not sure how I feel about being considered older soon. 😅

Best way to discern this IMO as one of those “older women” 😅: the advice should be self-centered, never a “here’s what I would do.” For example, I got advice as a young woman to protect my hearing at concerts and to get good at money/always have my own. I also was told it was no big deal to go to lunch alone with older male executives. First two were great advice that I consistently pass on. Last bit was a way for everyone to gossip about me (they did).

I'll be honest. The chance that you get good advice from a boomer is way way lower than the chance you'll get good advice from literally anybody else. At best, they'll tell you something that worked for them that no longer works. School, jobs, dating, houses. Everything has changed and their minds didn't keep up.
