@chasseurdesons: The sound of the Giant Resin Bee 🐝 While walking through a woodland near Lyon, I noticed three bees repeatedly entering cavities in a dead tree. I spent the morning and afternoon observing them as they flew back and forth, sometimes stopping to scrape the wood before disappearing inside again. This solitary bee does not dig its own tunnels. It uses existing cavities and divides them into individual cells made with mud and small particles of wood. Each cell receives pollen and a single egg before being sealed. When I returned a few days later, several entrances had been completely closed. Hidden inside, the next generation was beginning to develop. 🔊 The sound is a mix of an ambient recording captured with an omnidirectional microphone and vibrations recorded directly from the dead wood using a contact microphone. Both sources were mixed in post-production, but, as always, every sound heard in this video was recorded on location and comes from the activity of the giant resin bees. #nature #tree #sound #pourtoi #fyp
