@number.seven.gurl: Al-Dawayima was one of the largest Palestinian villages in the Hebron district. British Mandate records counted 3,710 residents in 1944–45, living on roughly 60,585 dunams of land, with grain fields, olive groves, orchards, livestock, a busy Friday market, and hundreds of homes. On October 29, 1948, during Operation Yoav, Israeli forces attacked the village. Survivors and contemporary reports described killings in homes, streets, the mosque, and a nearby cave. The precise death toll remains disputed, but estimates range from dozens to several hundred, while the village mukhtar reported 455 named victims, not including additional refugees sheltering there. The surviving population was expelled, the village was largely destroyed, and the Israeli settlement of Amatzia was later established on part of its ruins. #Palestine #Nakba
