She wrote a public article in November 2024 outlining legal pathways for Chidimma before formally becoming her lawyer. She is now using those same arguments to fight the department in court while advising the minister from the inside. A second board member James Chapman of the foreign-funded Scalabrini Centre also sits on the board while his NGO litigates against Home Affairs in court. Members of the public have filed complaints with the Public Protector. A six part thread by verified account Lerato at BellaM gathered 1.2 million impressions raising questions about insider knowledge being used against the state, influence over ZEP and LEP permit policy and whether the board has been captured by pro-immigration advocates.
