My problem is they didn't just figure this out last week. They've known this for months and said nothing. Also, I blame the aldermen. There's $$ in these neighborhoods. Everybody's gotta eat. Their job is to bring affordable grocers to the community. We need mom and pop stores that we own.

to put yall on game alot of these grocery stores own the land that they're built on the have in the paperwork (some of them) that are new stores i.e competitor can't take over! I found this out when jewel closed on western!

The last few years have shown us that there needs to be a public provider for essential services that we as humans can't live without, that is not driven by a profit model. A community owned grocery store is a great start, but I would expand that into healthcare and a massive reimagining of public housing.

Which one on 63rd? Because the one off Cicero always seemed to be heavily occupied so that would be a bummer for them. Now the one my 63rd and Halsted is a ghost town everyone goes to that Aldi right there

City run stores would fix multiple problems. One thing, everything would be from Illinois. The money would circulate in and out of Illinois, it would not leave 2 all the money that the government puts in with E. BT would go right back into that and not to other companies. The reality is, if it's not based in Illinois, it's going to leave out of Illinois and we need to keep the money in, especially in the city limits.

Yeah they’re gone it’s some bullshit they closed the one on Pulaski and congress for a year then reopened it just to close it a year later people work there and there is NO grocery store around there
