If you are praying Maghrib and you stand up for an extra rak’ah by mistake, sit down as soon as you remember. Even if you remember while you are bowing (ruku’), sit down right away. Then recite the Tashahhud (At-Tahiyyat), perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (Sujood as-Sahw), and finish your prayer with As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah.

If someone accidentally prayed 4 rak‘ahs instead of 3 fardh in Maghrib, the ruling depends on when they realised: * If they realised during the 4th rak‘ah: they should sit back down (because Maghrib is only 3 rak‘ahs), complete the salah correctly, and perform Sajdah al-Sahw before ending the prayer (according to the Hanafi school). * If they only realised after finishing the 4th rak‘ah: they should still perform Sajdah al-Sahw if they are still in the prayer place and have not done anything that breaks salah.

The prophet has advised us to count the least amount of rakat like if u can’t remember if u prayed 3 or 4. U have to go with 3 and pray another rakkat then do a specific type of sjud i think it was called sahu
