@roseinhistory: A video game wasn’t supposed to save history… but it almost did. When Notre Dame caught fire in 2019, one of the cathedral’s most detailed digital recreations was already hidden inside Assassin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft artist Caroline Miousse spent nearly two years meticulously recreating the cathedral, studying every tower, arch, and statue to make it as accurate as possible. After the fire, Ubisoft offered its digital data and research to support the restoration. Although the cathedral was ultimately rebuilt using laser scans, photographs, and historical architectural records, the game’s model became a powerful reminder that video games can help preserve cultural heritage in unexpected ways. Sometimes, history survives in places no one expects. #History #assasinscreed #trending #historytok #notredame
