@christinahelvey: As so many of you are getting ready to start your first year of homeschooling (so exciting!!), I wanted to share a few things I wish I had known when we first started💖✏️ Homeschooling has been one of the biggest gifts to our family. We’ve had more time together, the flexibility to travel, the peace of mind of knowing our kids are safe, and the chance to let them enjoy childhood a little longer. It’s definitely not always easy, and it does require sacrificing a lot of your own time as a parent😅 but for us, it’s been completely worth it. Like I mentioned in the video, adding in tutoring when you need it can be such a game changer! Homeschool curriculums are so parent-friendly and easy to navigate most of the time, but giving yourself permission to use outside resources when something just isn’t clicking takes SO much pressure off. I don’t think we’ll need tutoring for much longer, but next time we hit a roadblock I’ll definitely be calling in reinforcements sooner! (especially when high school algebra rolls around😂🫣) If you have any questions before you start your homeschooling journey, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a message! I’ll always give you my unfiltered, realistic take🥰 #homeschool #homeschoolmom #homeschooling #homeschoollife #motherhood

Educate Your Way :
“Giving yourself permission to use outside resources” is such underrated advice 💛 So much first-year stress comes from thinking you have to white-knuckle through whatever isn’t working. That flexibility is the whole reason we exist over at Educate Your Way. Homeschooling works best when the plan bends to the kid, not the other way around!

Yes! We started last year with my 4th and 2nd graders (and a 3 y/o) 😅 we went one semester before starting up with a co-op! My big kids were missing some of the school aspects so the co-op is twice a week and they get to take core classes and fun classes like sculpture/sewing/lego stem! And it works for us! Homeschooling is not one size fits all for sure! Try it all 🤣

Mama, you are doing SO great! This is education for us as well! Nation is such a little genius, but I am also seeing that I want extra help! Our local libraries are the jam! We will probably keep him in some classes while homeschooling the best we can!
