The bill is a ribbon. Once you start seeing those two shapes, everything becomes easier. The dome tells you the overall volume of the cap, while the ribbon helps you understand how the bill bends, twists, and changes direction in perspective. That’s exactly how I approach drawing. I don’t try to memorize objects. I look for the simplest forms hiding underneath them. Once those forms feel solid, adding seams, stitching, logos, and other details is the easy part. That’s how you go from copying objects to understanding them.
