This is so beautiful! My ancestors immigrated to the US from Ireland, Sweden, and Quebec. They ALL lost their languages and culture in favor of assimilation. My grandpa was the last one that had any language and he didn’t know enough to pass down. I’m so sad about this 😭

It generally seems fairly easy, even when you don’t speak it, to tell a native Irish speaker from a non-native. I’ve heard this is because the teaching of Irish isn’t exactly fantastic. But at least it happens.
