I've seen a video about how lobotomy started being a medical procedure. it actually was studied first by a portuguese doctor, and then brought to america and was used mostly on women to make them "better wives", so they wouldn't complain or anything when told to do something. these women were depressed or had anxiety, or even just thought they could have more freedom than what they had. in america they did it to about 50.000 people and 1 in 12 (if I remember correctly) died. when new pills were introduced they stopped.

I love this lists! Definitely saved them to research later! I would recommend theology, such as fenomenology of religion, the rites and myths, the Abrahamic religions and their points in common, the liminal figures, this one in particular I’m really curious of as of late
