@holvek: The Universe is everything that exists: space, time, matter, energy, and the physical laws that govern various processes. It includes a vast number of cosmic objects: galaxies, stars, planets, satellites, asteroids, comets, meteorites, nebulae, neutron stars, and black holes. Our planet Earth is part of the Solar System, which consists of the Sun and many other objects and is located in the Milky Way galaxy. The Milky Way, in turn, is just one of the vast number of galaxies that exist in the Universe. Each galaxy may contain billions of stars, many of which have planets orbiting them. According to modern scientific theory, the Universe emerged approximately 13.8 billion years ago as a result of the Big Bang. In the first moments after its formation, the Universe was extremely hot and dense, and then began to gradually expand and cool. Over time, the first elementary particles, atoms, stars, and galaxies formed. The process of formation of cosmic objects continues today. Scientists observe that the Universe is expanding, meaning the distances between distant galaxies are increasing over time. Moreover, space itself is expanding, rather than galaxies simply flying apart from a single point into empty space. The exact size of the entire Universe is unknown. Humanity can only observe the portion of space from which light has reached Earth over the course of the Universe's existence. This region is called the observable Universe. It is enormous in size and contains, according to current estimates, hundreds of billions or more galaxies. However, beyond the observable region, there may be a vast amount of space and objects that we cannot yet see. Therefore, the Universe may be significantly larger than the portion of space that humanity can observe. One of the most intriguing features of the Universe is its diversity. Space contains stars of varying sizes and temperatures, planets with diverse conditions, vast clouds of gas and dust from which new stars are born, and black holes—regions of space with such strong gravity that even light cannot escape them. Some stars end their lives in powerful explosions called supernovae. As a result of such processes, various chemical elements necessary for the formation of new stars, planets and, possibly, life are ejected into space. #universe #earth #world #astrophysics
