The distances can look small, but the island is mountainous, roads are winding, and the beach you saved may be nowhere near the village you booked. 🌟 Iconic visual beaches: ⛱️ Myrtos is the famous cliff-backed showstopper, ⛱️ Petani gives you dramatic west-coast sunsets on the Paliki side, and ⛱️ Antisamos is the lush green bay near Sami made famous by Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. 🛶 Secluded & adventurous: ⛱️ Fteri is the boat-taxi / hike beach from the Zola area, with unreal blue water. ⛱️ Dafnoudi is a small northern cove reached by a forest walk, and ⛱️ Kako (Kato) Lagadi is a tiny rocky southeast beach that’s better for a quick swim or snorkeling stop. 🌳 Lush northern coves: ⛱️ Emplisi and ⛱️ Foki are both near Fiskardo, so this is a great area if you want clear water, trees, little coves, and a slower north-coast feel. 🏖️ Easier beach days: ⛱️ Makris Gialos near Argostoli/Lassi is one of the easiest organized beach days, while ⛱️ Skala gives you a long southeast beach with more space and resort-style convenience. 🏡 Villages + sights: Assos is the postcard village with the Venetian castle above it. Melissani Cave is near Sami/Karavomylos and is best known for the boat ride under the collapsed cave roof. St. Theodore Lighthouse is an easy Argostoli-side stop. ✈️ Logistics: Kefalonia has its own airport, EFL, near Argostoli. Ferries also connect through Poros, Sami, Pessada, Fiskardo, and the Argostoli–Lixouri route.
