@littlemissmonroe: A lot of people focus only on the financial side of “providing,” but a real provider creates safety financially, physically and emotionally. I think many autistic women would struggle in purely financial provider relationships, because we need someone who is empathetic and emotionally present for it to be healthy. But that’s just my two cents ✨💜✨ #autism #girlswithautism #autismtok
Did you dream him into existence or do people like that actually exist?

My husband is a provider. From his first paycheck, he made it clear to me that he saw all money he earned as OUR money, not his. Specifically, the money was for the house and everyone in it. He supported me on a minimum wage pay check and never expected me to make myself sicker by working, and he never tried to control me with money. That is a provider. He also cooks, cleans, does most chores and does as much primary care of our child as he can because he actually enjoys being a dad. On top of all that, he always makes time for me and him. In return, I exist, and that’s enough form him. 🥰 I love him and I’m obsessed with him.

There’s an easy way to see this. Look at how his father takes care of his mother. You will see what influence he grew up with.

A couple of questions: is there a significant age gap? Is he neurotypical? and is he from a different race/culture from you?

yes yes yes! my husband is so giving, and so organized and smart, when he first moved in with me he immediately asked for all the logins to the bills so i wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. he immediately added me to his life insurance at the beginning so when he had a health scare i wasn't worried about security if something happened. he protects me, i am fully unmasked around him, he is patient and he advocates for me. it's a dream.

Yes my boyfriend provides me the space to dance, sing, connect spiritually how I feel, and never makes me worry about the bills. I’ve never had that kind of safety and he’s the first to actually want to be a provider for me.

you are so right on this. my husband takes care of me so well and is such a gentle soul. we've been together 15 years and married for 11. he's not autistic but he understands my mind like no other.

Yes! I can’t emphasise how important it is that he is considerate. I asked a wealthy ex for help when I was deep in the trenches and he left me on read. And because I’m autistic and don’t date, he is the only one I could have asked for. Never again. If they aren’t considerate and kind, I will never engage with them.

agree with you! my husband is kind and intelligent and also built his own business. we've been together for 20 yrs this year and I would have never imagined being with someone for so long because of my autism & how difficult it can be.

I am both neurodivergent and chronically ill and my boyfriend once said that his biggest worry was that he wants to give me a good life. That hit me. He is a personal trainer with his own company, he mainly works with older people to help them walk properly etc… one time a client broke her leg from a fall and he went to visit her in the hospital because she is old and does not have any family. If someone is that type of person you will just see it in every part of their behavior. Main words people always use to describe him is calm and patient and loyal to people and things around him. That is the type of person you need.
