@ellesmaddry: 7 things that would have actually been helpful to hear as a new mom!! What would you add? The new moms are freaked out 😅 and honestly I get it. Social media is a scary place when you’re getting ready to be a mom. I spent 9 months scrolling Instagram and TikTok knowing there was so much I didn’t know, feeling the clock tick down until it was go time, wondering if I’d be prepared… and so these are the things 8 weeks in that I think would have be helpful to hear: - This will be the hardest but most rewarding thing you ever do. - You were made to be your baby’s mom and God has given you everything you need to help him thrive. - The third night is insane, you’re not crazy. He will not cluster feed forever. - The first time your baby smiles your whole world will stop. - There’s a learning curve to breastfeeding. Keep going! - You and your baby are a team. Teams need practice! - Guard your heart and your mind against content that paints motherhood as a drag. You’re trained by what you’re entertained by. #motherhood #firsttimemom #newborn #postpartum#postpartumherhood
Saw someone say “if you aren’t 100% sure about having kids, don’t have them.” Like how could I be 100% about something I’ve never done? Pregnant with my first and so excited but of course just feeling unsure about everything and that comment makes me feel terrible 🥲

When I tell you that I spent 9 whole months reading every single book & taking every single prep class for both birth and newborn prep… I even found a therapist who specializes in postpartum when I was in my 2nd trimester because tik tok had me SO scared that I was going to be dying of pain, depressed, anxious, unable to breast feed properly and feeling so awful post baby, only to have him (he’s 1 month today!) and have the complete opposite experience and find out most of it was necessary… the internet is SO scary. And I know a lot of people will say “well you’re lucky, that isn’t everyone’s experience” okay… but why isn’t it okay to share all of the good just as much as it is the bad!? I’m like almost scared to share my positive story!

I just found out I'm pregnant and all I do is cry and think I've made the biggest mistake of my life because of all those negative tiktoks about being a mom, it's nice to see a positive video pop up..

Yes!! I can’t stand the “you just wait” crew. Everything they said that would happen, hasn’t happened. My baby sleeps well, breastfeeding has been easy, and he hasn’t had any pain teething. Instead, my baby was born with a completely unexpected birth defect that requires 3 surgeries. No one warned me about that. Luckily he is completely fine now. So let’s just stay away from social media because you literally never know what is going to happen.

People are trauma dumping their birth stories while knowing I’ll be giving birth in about 5-6 weeks! 😬

I hate that it’s either one way or the other. Something can be beautiful and hard without having to bring fear into it. 7 months pregnant and I’m thrilled but nervous and that’s ok! But I refuse to be fearful about motherhood just because someone else is

My doctor literally told me “the number one advice I could give you, is to stay off the Internet. Have your own experience. It’s OK to ask questions, but don’t let people put fear into you.”

I’m 3 weeks postpartum and no it hasn’t been the easiest BUT I’ve loved every second of it. This sweet little baby sees me as his entire world and there is nothing more beautiful than that.

FOR REAL. I was just talking to my friends about how my biggest take away so far from being a Mom is “DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ON TIKTOK”

Before having a baby did you struggle with un motivation, negativity, and feeling lost etc? If so how did you practice becoming more disciplined and positive. Curious because everything you talk about is important but also mind set practice before baby comes too and would love thoughts and experience you had with these if you have!
