When I was pregnant, I thought preparing for maternity leave meant buying all the baby bits. The pram. The hospital bag. The tiny baby grows. The nursery. I spent so much time making sure my baby was ready... But I never thought about preparing me! Nobody told me how quickly maternity leave would disappear. Nobody told me how hard it could feel when you realise you're not ready to go back to work. And nobody told me there were things I could start learning before my baby even arrived that might give me more options later on. Looking back now... That's exactly what I wish another mum had sat me down and told me. Not because I think every mum should do what I did... but because I think every mum deserves to know it's an option. When I found out I was pregnant with my second daughter, I did things differently. Instead of waiting until I was already just relying on mat pay or counting down the weeks until my leave ended... I started learning a new skill. And that was digital products and Canva. Things like planners, checklists, templates and invitations. What made it feel possible as a busy mum was realising I didn't have to create everything myself from day one. I could start with ready-made products, learn how everything worked and build my confidence before creating my own. That one decision has since helped me: ✨ Extend my maternity leave. ✨ Reduce my working hours. ✨ Clear debt. ✨ Create extra income from home around my girls. The biggest lesson I've learnt after two maternity leaves? The best time to create more options for yourself is before you feel like you need them. So if you're planning for your maternity leave right now and would love to create some more options for yourself too.. DM me MATERNITY and I'll show you exactly how I got started ❤️ Make sure to folllow so we can message x #maternityleaveuk #babyonthewayuk #pregnantlifeuk #ukmums #sidehustleideasformumsuk
