Buses usually leave in the morning (around 8:30 AM). You can buy a ticket to Qiaotou (the town at the entrance of the Upper Gorge) if you want to do the high trail hike, or directly to the Tina's Guesthouse area if you just want to see the Middle Gorge. Travel time: About 1.5 to 2 hours. If you are coming from the north, Shangri-La is about 100 km (62 miles) away. Regular buses depart from the Shangri-La Long-Distance Bus Station heading toward Lijiang or Kunming and can drop you off at Qiaotou town. There are also specific tourist buses heading straight to the gorge in the morning. Travel time: About 2 to 2.5 hours. 🚄You can take a high-speed train from Lijiang Railway Station to Tiger Leaping Gorge Station (Hutiao Gorge Station). Travel time: Around 25–30 minutes. From the station, you will need to catch a local minivan or taxi to the actual scenic area entrance. If you are coming from Shangri-La, take the high-speed train from Shangri-La to Tiger Leaping Gorge Station.
