The issue isn’t running an 18 minute 3 mile by itself. The issue is also having to carry the muscle to do 23 consecutive pull-ups and be able to transition into CFT season. I bet that same runner couldn’t rep out 23 pull-ups consecutively

did a 17min 42sec 3 mile run in boot camp and maintained an average of an 18min 3 mile run for the first 8 years in before it started to fall off. Is it doable? Absolutely. Can everyone do it? Not even close. But we are Marines and have higher standards for a reason. We are "The Few, The Proud." If it were easy, everyone would be a Marine. If you cant hack it any more, do an inter service transfer.

I think it balances out with everyone having inflated fit reps or jpes, also counteracts the cft being mad easy to get a 300. Gives a legit scale on fitness. 300 is supposed the very tip of the top not something your average Marine is supposed to able to do.

bro Im 37 years old I've been out for a while. I can start today at probably a 9 minute mile and be at a 6 minute mile within 6 months.

My fastest time was 16:34, I was able to hold sub 18 minute 3 miles for the first 3 years as a grunt. You just have to run like your life depends on it bro
