@tainaxtai: Everyone wants to “discover” the next hidden gem until it’s no longer hidden. Of course I want Haiti to thrive economically, and tourism can absolutely play a role in that. But there’s also something special about a place that hasn’t been completely commercialized, preserving a country’s identity instead of turning it into a destination built for everyone else. Curious what other Haitians think. 🇭🇹.
Exactly lol look at DR the locals are poor while the white capitalist owns everything

What a selfish perspective. Across the Caribbean, nearly every island that prospers does so largely because of tourism. Haiti desperately needs its tourism industry to flourish, not as a cure-all, but as a vital step toward creating sustainable jobs for its people. With that kind of economic foundation, Haiti could gradually reduce its reliance on foreign aid and build a future driven by its own potential

I was just there last week as an AA. It’s definetly picking up in tourism. Chinese , Africans , White French were definitely there. And how do you not want your country to do better that’s weird. It’s like any other country. Tourism helps the economy just like Disney helps Florida. You can still have sacred spots.

I definitely understand what you’re saying. You don’t want Haiti to lose the adversity and resilience that have shaped its identity. In a way, those struggles have become part of what makes Ayiti unique.
