💯, like math. You need to know how the calculator derived the answer.

If you think about it, they could face academic discipline, from the school itself, for plagiarism.

People keep saying that we need to teach them how to use AI but honestly, they know how they just don’t want to use it correctly. When we tell them to use it for research and to help with summarizing, they do is take the prompt copy and paste it and go about their way. I know this personally I assigned a paper and over half my class submitted the paper in conclusion paragraph.

I was an economics major, and it is unbelievable how much misinformation AI and Chat put out about the economy. They just gather sources from the internet and hope they are true. Because I understand economics…I catch it. If I used AI for my education, I wouldn’t know which way was up.

I have a professor that I've taken several 200 level, 300 level and a 400 level class. The earlier classes AI no go. By upper 300 and 400, he said you can use AI not to create the whole thing but aid you because at this point you've learned the foundation. However, if you do not know the foundation Ai is not going to help you.

AI is an awesome tool for people who have already put in the work and know how to properly formulate a thought and think through a problem. However, it is a dumbing-down tool, taking the place of critical thinking. Even in my field of nursing, I am seeing new nurses who cannot think and it’s DANGEROUS!

That’s the difference, and I don’t get why people don’t get it! It’s about putting your name on something you did not write! It’s about students thinking for themselves and learning skills they will need. It’s simple.

Agreed. They need to learn without AI otherwise they will never learn to critically think. I remember making sure EVERY thing I used was cited correctly because I was not about to be accused of plagiarism

We can all just eat canned soup from the store, sure. But it is never as good as what you can make from scratch and will never be.

This!!!! All of ths!!!! Kids are struggling with even generating their own ideas!! Let alone, apply critical thinking and understanding how to use info to support or refute them. Lastly, structure and adequate piece of writing!! All of this!!!!

Hello! It’s not hard to understand. They are using AI to do the work, not assist. I use copilot to help me word something and still won’t put that exact wording in a paper

Exactly! The most people who actually earned their degrees can problem-solve, use critical thinking skills, and can comprehend & analyze what they read and learn. Letting AI do all the thinking for you is the problem. This will be the same generation crying that AI took their jobs. I'm a college professor and high school teacher, they don't use it as a tool, they use it to think for them.

I think there’s a way to implement AI in the classroom to help students better understand/comprehend the material as a supplementary tool, not as something flat out do the coursework for them!
