Why do cops believe that obtaining ID is going to tell them what’s happening? They always ask for ID and say that they are trying to figure out what’s going on. How does an ID tell you that?

😂😂😂 always the same story by cops. i got a call i, want your ID, i am investigating. First you dont need ID for the investigation. Second talk to the one who made the call first so you know what the complaint is about and if there is evidence.
