I only ever feel anything in my throat. Every emotion is in my throat. I can tell other things are happening in the rest of my body but I can’t feel it? I’m struggling to figure out how to feel anything else

Okay but like how do you recognize the sensations in your body? How do you know which sensation is for which emotion? And how do you know what the feeling wants? I’m completely lost by what you mean “how it wants you to move” or what “noise would it make?” Like what does that even mean? How do I know if it’s correct

As someone with chronic illness I think I struggle with this because my body is already having so many “feelings” and I spend so much time trying to ignore pain signals just to make it through the day

My brain is a kindergarten class- half of the students are screaming from joy, the other half is screaming from bad things, and I can’t tell the difference so I walk out of the room and shut the door. At least that’s how I explained it I my somatic therapist.

Love this, but I struggle with bringing attention or giving attention to the physical feelings of emotions. It’s like I’ve spent too many years overriding the act of feeling my emotions that accessing them now is so challenging!

Excellent explanation. I’m on year 5 of healing from chronic neuroplastic pain and “feeling your feelings” has always been a suggestion from my practitioners, as a way out… i’ve never had anyone actually explain it to me like this in such helpful detail. Thank you.

I live in the city and there would be concerned citizens if I make the screaming sounds I would like to make 😂 does anyone know of any sound proof rooms?

this is how it clicked for me: I broke my foot a week ago. I don't THINK the pain. I feel it. and emotional hurts are the same. we don't think the pain, we feel it. and it is somewhere in our body. just like my broken foot.

I know this is me intellectualizing things but I’ve always wondered: don’t you have like hundreds of feelings throughout a single day?? Are you supposed to stop & “feel” the feeling every single time?? Isn’t that exhausting?

But how do you do this when in the presence of others? How do you do this when you don’t have the privacy to be alone?
