@the_mrs_crowder: Becoming a mom of adult kids has been one of the biggest transitions of motherhood for me. The Things that made me a good mom when my boys were little look different now. Parenting adult children means learning when to step in, when step back, and how to trust the people we've raised. If you're navigating the empty nest season, or learning how to love your adult kids in a new way, you are not alone. #AdultKids #MotherhoodJourney #EmptyNest #MomLife #AdultChildren
Been in similar circumstances. She disrespected us and our home . We helped out financially but that enabled the bad choices.

The hardest part for me is holding my tongue when I see them make really bad money decisions that will cause them long term problems. Even after I’ve given advice on it before.

Being not needed is so hard to adjust to. I had to have a hard talk with myself about raising my children to be independent.. in the process, I didn’t think of me being one of those things they’d be independent of 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 did I say 😭😭😭😭😭 and why did I think I automatically had full access to my grandchildren ..like wait what? All I wanted to do was live next door, it’s not like I wouldn’t send them home, eventually 🤭🙃 jk, but still 😊

The hardest is watching them navigate all the ups and downs of budgeting, and jobs and raising their owe kids.
But honestly having to watch my daughter grieve a child loss. I would DO ANYTHING to take her and my son-in-laws pain. Instead I am here to listen and hold them when I am needed.

My daughter choose to be homeless for over a year. She quit her job, got evicted from her apartment and she lived in her car in a cold Colorado winter. She was absolutely more than welcome to move back home. But we had expectations. Like she either had to have a full time job, or she had to be going to school full time. We would pay for her college as long as she was passing. She would have had all of her necessities provided. BUT there was no vaping or marijuana allowed in our house (we still have 1 kiddo at home) her dad and I both work and have to leave very early so we go to bed by 8. She could come and go as she pleased but she could not keep us awake at night. She had to keep her area clean and tidy and Also her very abusive boyfriend was not allowed on our property period. She chose to be homeless. She constantly asked for money and I finally just had to start saying no. Hardest thing I have ever done in my life!

Someone once said that having adult children is like being fired from a job you spent 18 years pouring your heart and soul into. That’s definitely what it felt like. Though, it has also been fun (and scary) watching them learn to fly solo.

I have a big mouth with lots of opinions. The hardest part is LETTING them 😩🥺 I just have to trust God and lay everything at the foot of the cross...and not pick it up again.

When they make decisions on own that go to 💩 and then have to help them thru the aftermath and not say - if you had asked me or if you had done what I said...

It should be in the manual, you spend all your time raising them to not need you. But no one tells you what it feels like when that happens. It’s great when you get tagged to go in the game again, even if it’s only for one inning 🥰 it is so hard a not jump in and fix everything or tell them what to do/choices to make. Just gotta be ready to help them back on their path when it happens and they veer way off of their course they have created.

Absolutely love this! Definitely the hardest part for me is watching my daughter take care of her baby (my grandbaby) and trying not to bombard her with "you need to this or don't forget to do this or you should do this, etc". I've been having to learn when to stay quiet and keep my opinions to myself and let her learn and do things on her own as a mom now. But when she comes to me with questions or asking for advice about what to do...it makes me so happy.

controlling my mouth and facial expression has been the hardest. I want to give an opinion even when I'm not asked for one. it's me trying to advise them but I'm realizing I need to step back.

The hardest part now is letting go of the decisions that I wouldn’t want them make. Respectful acceptance has been one hard but necessary.

I let my kids go when they were twenty. At 30 my son crashed hard. My husband and I negotiated to get him help. He had to live at home. He was not allowed to drive for six months. He wasn’t allowed to work (no to barista, food service or bar tender). He took a real estate class, then decided to go back to college, then into a nursing program. He took a job as a med tech. He’s an RN today and has decided to go into a premed program. And yes he still takes drug tests and works a recovery program. We gave him the support. He had to do all the work. None of it happened on my timeline.
