P5 feels so frustrating bc they left these options in tbh. The VERY FIRST PALACE is literally the "this teacher preys on teenagers and that's disgusting" arc, and then they allow you to date adults. It feels bizarrely disingenuous. Pair that with P4 "actually our characters AREN'T queer lol" and you get such a cop-out, catering to everyone feel from Atlus that it's sooooo. It's sooo 😭😭😭

I think people miss a crucial factor of atlus' decision to add these romances. Obviously when u look at it from an outside perspective it's weird. But the entire point of there being romance options and all these choices is bc the player is supposed to put themselves in the shoes of the MC. that's why joker literally does not have voice lines other than persona summons an small stuff like that. when u any persona, u ARE the MC. all the decisions u make r decisions U make irl. These adult romances and even the kid romance option in p3p r so that the person playing can choose someone relative to their age or who they prefer. "why r the MC's teens then" The playerbase is primarily teenagers/young adults. the game appeals most to teens. that's why each persona protag is placed at a teenager age but also the age of consent so they don't ACTUALLY make the relations illegal. but y'all jus sneak past this everytime and see it as a simple "ew weird age gap pdf"

See I just think p5 would’ve been better if they were in college and some of the details were shifted around to make that consistent with the plot, I feel like anime is too focused on highschool ages and then still decides they want fanservice so they use the minors (Using Ann in this way is crazy too because she’s quite literally a victim of a pedophile and yet she’s like- regularly objectified and sexualized at age 16 by the game.) I just hate how like every adult character who Joker can romance acknowledges what they’re doing is weird and wrong and still does it and people don’t find those characters gross or weird. Like, Kawakami especially is just weird fetish-dating-your-teacher and I’m TIRED of this grandpa. Also Futaba, like why are we explicitly giving her a sisterly dynamic to the protagonist and then still letting her be romanceable?? If you wanted to do that, don’t have other characters say that she’s like a little sister to you!!! Ugh. Then Akechi wines and dines you and Yusuke brings you on a swan boat ride and you mean to tell me Joker can’t kiss THEM? And don’t tell me “Joker is straight!” Have you seen that man? That zest fest? My man put on drag and strutted it with full confidence and swag, he’s queer asf. I’m tired of this grandpa
