Maybe I’m weird, but my prevailing thought is amazement that grandpa went up two flights to throw all the bottles in that room. I could see it if it was next to the kitchen, or the garage or something. But two levels up just doesn’t compute for me because that’s not even convenient.

No one knew my grandpa was a hoarder until after he died, the basement was his man cave and my grandma couldn't go down the stairs and none of us ever had a reason to go down there when we visited. It wasn't as bad as this, but I completely get how it can go unnoticed.
