When I was young, we lived in a poor area. My mom always had a pot of beans and rice and tortillas so when she called us in for lunch, she noticed our friends with the go home and she called them back and says come and eat and they said that’s OK we’re not hungry. My mom will get mad and start cussing at them in town. Get in here at eat I didn’t ask if you was hungry. I told you to come in and eat and they would come in and eat cause we knew that they were poor than we were so she would always feed our friends. One year a family moved into our neighborhood and she went over to say hi but they told her not to come in because everybody was sick and she noticed the clothes and blankets were dirty from them and they had no food so she went home and made chicken soup and then went back and started feeding everybody and they kept saying no you don’t have to do this. You don’t know us. She didn’t care she was there all day washing their clothes and their blankets cleaning their house and make sure that they were fed and came back the next day and took care of them until they got better on Christmas. She will make tamales all by herself every year because we were so young to help and then she would take those tamales and take them to her doctors her dentist to thank them for their help my mom was loved by our neighbors and they always came by in the afternoon and sat in the porch just to talk. This is how we grew up and this is how we help others. I am so proud to have a mother like that.
