I looked it up at some point and if all the men disappeared with the sperm in banks we would all be fine to repopulate the earth. Without sperm we”d need about 150 men to repopulate. If women disappeared even if there were 150 women later, we would be toast.

And don’t forget that myth where the sperm goes swimmingly up there and the fastest one wins and pierces the egg by the time the sperm in vicinity it’s the egg that chooses and allows the sperm into the field. The egg is the seed.

Human beings also can’t exist without the X chromosome but they can exist without the Y and everytime someone is born wifh Turner’s syndrome (single chromosome, always an X), they are female.
