if anyone is confused why people are mad that a custodian is talking down to a Space Marine. Custodes very much outrank Space Marines as the Emperor's personal guards and companions before he became the world's worst dad and world's best lighthouse, and recently the guy who did the majority of Custodes lore decided to add female custodians to the newest codex for them. So they're just mad that their power fantasy is now broken because a woman can talk down to them and obliterate their manly Space Marines.

Female Custodes are fully canon in Warhammer 40k. Games Workshop confirmed their existence in the 10th Edition Codex, established a named character (Calladayce Taurovalia Kesh), & officially released plastic kits containing both male & female head options.

I loved this episode, they showed 3 things the entire community has never understood, first that custodians are not human, they are creations of the Emperor himself, thus they don't understand genre, opinion or sides, they know they are the voice and spear of the Emperor and they will accomplish their mission. Second, the Imperium is NOT the good guys, they are an injured Empire looking to survive and hold their territory, but even then, sometimes u have to sacrifice some things to stay alive, even planets. And third, Space Marines are perfect warriors, but with a flaw, they still have free will and thinking, for much zealotism they have, they still can be opposed to some things, for example here with their honor and oaths, showing how some legions or chapters end up betraying the Imperium

I have come to realize that this a conversation made face to face out of respect. The Custodian understands what exactly she is asking the Astartes. Terra/Earth is the Imperium's top priority to protect. This is a misdirection tactic to keep the Tyranids away from Terra/Earth. If Terra/Earth falls, it dooms the entire Imperium due to the Astronomican being the only legitimate means of Warp Navigation. To sacrifice one world to save the Imperium is a calculation So, instead of doing this over the Vox. She is doing this face to face as a means of saying "Dude. I know what I am asking you to do, but we need to do this." This is a sign of respect wrapped within a direct order. This is why the Custodian decided to do a Face to Face. It shows how she is willing to display respect to the Astartes while emphasizing the severity of the situation. She knows this is a HUGE order, but one that has to be made. It says in her line *"We must be willing to sacrifice anything, even our own honor, to protect Terra."* Even the shift in her tone displays how she understood what she was ordering the Astartes to do.
