This it is very insightful. It's interesting because all of my favorite comedians do crowd work, I've always loved it. I can finally absurdity interest about anything in life and I love comedians that can do the same. My friends and I tease each other a LOT. I don't trust anybody who can't laugh at themselves.

At least from my observation and from many people that I know, improv is still a very huge thing. Crowd work and improv generate a lot of popularity on social media. It shows comedians being funny off the cuff rather than a practiced, polished routine. I think quick wit and audience engagement is funnier than previously thought out writing.

I also think there is something in the medium. It’s like other TikTok or short form content. But it has a skilled Comedian AND it’s has the regular people aspect of other good Covid era everyday people content. The subjects aren’t polished influencers. So it’s “real” but also structured and skilled.
