As a flight attendant i absolutely agree. Its very obvious that some of these “service dogs” are not real service dogs.

They need to change the ADA rules so businesses are allowed to ask for documentation of training etc. Way too many people taking advantage of it

sorry but this needs to get cracked down on. should have to show a card or paperwork to management or a lead position or scan it at entry (like how Walmart has someone at the front to check receipts, like that but someone stopping everyone with a dog to scan the legal card) that proves that dog is legit and not fluffy with a amazon service vest on because he's there for your *emotional needs* or you to be cheap. don't matter restaurant, gas station, airport, don't have it then dog can't come in

Fake service dog are getting out of control. I manage a restaurant and it’s crazy the amount of people that think it’s okay to just bring in their pet. I can tell right off the bat which ones are real and which ones are fake. The ADA needs to make laws to weed out the fakes .

Trained service dogs should be registered with a service dog database and they get a little ID no medical information needs to be on it just like an ID a pic and name of owner pet is trained for. Someone is going to mess it up real big and bad for those who truly have service pets

Should absolutely not be against the law to ask for proof. As someone in the restaurant it drives me insane not being able to ask for proof when their badass dog is peeing on the floor of my dining room.

I know its not legal to ask documentation due to the owners privacy but we ned to start asking for a license or something to prevent fake service dogs, I work at a hotel i have seeing so many fake service dogs that they are lit demons, just because people dont want to paid 25 dollars per night extra.

when i was a pregnant bartender people would bring their dogs in and started getting notes from their doctor calling them emotional support animals when i asked them wtf is going on. i was pregnant, someone's boxer pissed on the floor bc they were too busy gambling, they said it wasnt their dog (only dog in the bar) so I had to clean it up. I quit and called the damn Health Department. we also served FOOD. the dogs would go behind the bar and try to put their paws on the counter and would jump on us. I dont want dogs jumping all over me, peeing on my floor, and around food... cuz a real service dog would NEVER do those things. ive been around real service dogs at my jobs and literally almost every time I dont even know the dog is there unless I seen them come in. they stay under the table or right at the feet and dont bark or pee on the floor or beg and are WILDLY uninterested in anyone who isnt "their human".

Hot take: I don’t think you should be able to buy service vests online Willy nilly. I think they need to be specifically given out once your dog has completed the proper training. It just makes sense. Anyone can fake having a service dog. They should not be available on Amazon. If you loose your vest, you must request a new one.

I will never understand why people try to do this. my family owns a business and we do not allow pets on our tractor pulled wagon rides, unless they are service animals. this wagon has no personal seating. the people who purchase a ticket expect a calm ride through our field. when people bring true service dogs, there are no complaints. however, in numerous occasions we have had children TERRIFIED by fake service dogs. i will always have respect for true service dogs, and their owners. and I will always judge a liar.
