You are right Lucette. No one should be spoken to that way, especially a priest or minister. Unfortunately, if the minister is talking about tradition and the way it’s always been then traditionally she should not be at the pulpit. She is a woman women do not belong with the pulpit. That is tradition and the way it’s always been. I’m sorry but that’s the way it was. thankfully not no. I have no issues with women at the pulpit, but she’s a pot calling the kettle black.

there was more to this story but it didn't suit the narrative of the wedding videographer. it is plain as day the poor priest was at the end of her tether with the couple. they had a rehearsal they say before everything was discussed, changes had been made and things had been agreed to. the priest shows up at the church and more changes that weren't spoken about had been made as well as where they were standing that had already been discussed because of the lighting. the guy who filmed is a disgrace for posting she is getting so much hate for just doing her job trying to uphold the dignity of the church. the video got over 4million views and close to 4 thousand comments, she was doxed and has received so much vile hate from people who are anti religion/church/preists. a church is a place of worship it is not a pretty backdrop for a photoshoot. it deserves respect. the couple were getting a blessing in the church not the full ceremony because they were already legally married. the couple just wanted pretty photos. if they really valued the church and what it stands for they wouldn't be changing things. it's was tradition in this church for the men to stand on a certain side. this was discussed at the rehearsal they spoke about swapping sides then but agreed not to. then the morning of the wedding the photographer and videographer said no the lighting is wrong the bride won't look good and swapped sides without discussing it with the priest. I don't blame the priest for snapping she had put up with a lot before hand with the couple. the couple and wedding vendors had no respect for the church or tradition.

I had always understood that the tradition of having the man on the left side was from medieval times when he needed his sword arm to be free to fight off other suitors. There was no religious connection at all. Since I am not a history buff, my understanding could be all wrong. But I’ve never heard a religious reason for why one person stands on a particular side.

My take on this, because my father was a priest and did many weddings, was that position changes etc. were taken care of during rehearsal? if not, they stayed the way the rehearsal was because the priest or the pastor or whoever the religious person is has specific moves they have to make and it is dependent on where the bride and groom traditionally stand. so it screws them up completely. if this is not changed during rehearsal in some traditions, they wrap the hands of the bride and groom and other religious rituals are done based on where they're standing. however, no person of the cloth should ever go off like that

As a wedding officiant (minister) I could never speak to a couple like that. She should be embarrassed! Sending you love and good mojo for an awesomely boring birth and swift recovery from your cold (hope that translates correctly from American to Australian as a good wish!)

plenty of clergy from the same demonstration we're in the comments saying the priest was ott. I don't think it's controversial, she was wrong to behave that way in a house of worship at someone's wedding
