It is run by the Communist Youth League of Zhejiang province. You enter your national ID, and 6 provincial databases check you at once. Civil affairs confirms you are actually unmarried. Public security confirms you carry no criminal record. The education bureau confirms your degree is real. Human resources confirms your social-security history. The last two, justice and development-reform, are wired in for the rest. Take Yu Jinglang, 33, who works the metro division of the Hangzhou public security bureau. He heard about the service from his own bureau's political department, which was circulating the link. He registered, and a matchmaker walked him through it. From launch in 2017 to the end of 2023, League organizers ran more than 4,000 events and drew over 1.14 million attendances. By May 2024, certified membership had passed 480,000. In 2023 alone, the province held more than 1,560 events. Volunteer matchmakers personally worked the lines for some 37,000 singles. So why is this happening? In September 1980, the Party published an open letter launching the one-child policy. It was addressed by name to Party and Communist Youth League members.
