@aircraft_engineer_: The Grumman C-1 Trader – A Remarkable Carrier-Based Logistics Aircraft… The Grumman C-1 Trader was developed from the legendary S-2 Tracker, becoming the U.S. Navy’s dedicated Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft. While the S-2 was designed for anti-submarine warfare, the C-1 Trader was modified to transport personnel, mail, spare parts, and critical cargo between shore bases and aircraft carriers at sea. Key Features: ✈️ Based on the Grumman S-2 Tracker airframe. ✈️ Powered by two Wright R-1820 radial piston engines. ✈️ Designed for catapult launches and arrested landings on aircraft carriers. ✈️ Carried up to nine passengers or approximately 3,500 lb (1,600 kg) of cargo. ✈️ Served the U.S. Navy from the mid-1950s until the late 1980s before being replaced by the C-2 Greyhound. Although it never carried weapons like its S-2 predecessor, the C-1 Trader played a vital logistical role. Every successful carrier operation depends not only on combat aircraft but also on reliable logistics, maintenance support, and the continuous delivery of people, equipment, and spare parts. Seeing this beautifully preserved aircraft reminds us that aviation history is built not only by fighters and bombers, but also by the hardworking support aircraft that kept fleets operational around the world. Every aircraft has a mission. The C-1 Trader’s mission was to keep the mission going. #A#AviationA#AircraftMaintenanceG#GrummanC#C1TraderS#S2Tracker
