As someone who lives in America Mississippi is nowhere close to New York and they were out in the sticks- the country nowhere near a city she would’ve had those babies in the car.

There is no such thing as driving quickly from Mississippi to New York. I'm from Kansas and it takes 8hrs to drive across Kansas. My brother used to live in Phoenix, AZ and that is a 16hr drive at minimum. The smaller states are in Northeastern America but it would still take hours to drive across them too. The size of America is seriously underestimated by the rest of the world.
