Hello gaizz, I’d just like to clarify that Jose Rizal is our permanent national hero in the Philippines, because he risked his life for our country. Rene Baterbonia, on the other hand, is a young person with big dreams and serves as an inspiration to the youth today. However, even if we wish to name Baterbonia as a national hero, that decision is not ours to make. That’s allthank you for your understanding!

I truly respect and honor Rene Baterbonia. His courage to try saving a life, and the sacrifice he made, is something we should all recognize and be proud of. But we have to be fair and honest about what each of them means for our whole country. José Rizal did not just help one person—his writings, his wisdom, and his sacrifice awakened the entire Philippines. He gave us our identity as a nation, guided the Katipunan, and laid the foundation for our freedom that every single Filipino enjoys today. His work changed our whole history, and benefited millions of people, generation after generation. Rene Baterbonia’s heroism is personal and brave, but it cannot be compared to the national legacy of Rizal that binds us all together. Replacing Rizal’s monument with his sends a worrying message: that the one who gave us our whole country is equal to someone who did one brave act, or even less. It is not right to erase the one who helped build our entire nation, just to give space to another. We can celebrate Rene, we can put up his own statue in a proper place to honor his bravery—but we should never take down Rizal for it. We do not need to choose one over the other, but we must never forget who gave us the freedom and country we have today. Honoring one should never mean removing the one who gave everything for all of us.

Idol ko po si rene pero for me po i dont think jose rizal statue should be replaced by rene. Jose rizal sacrificed his life for the philippines, rene did not. But that doesn't mean i dislike rene im just being fair. And rene is also a really² good guy. i love both of them❤️but for me i think rizal deserves the statue more. And to those that wants to replace rizal's statue. Just please dont force people to replace his statue. Please be fair guys. We can also put rene a statue but please just dont replace it with rizal's statue. (i love rene and jose rizal the same) ❤️

Not a Rene basher ha, legit I cried so hard nung nalaman kong pumanaw na siya kasi he’s such an iconic MVP—sobrang solid ng impact niya sa lahat and walang duda na he deserves all the love he’s getting right now. Pero guys, let’s be so for real—yung idea na palitan ang statue ni Rizal para gawing statue ni Rene? That’s so crossing the line, sobrang unhinged na ng thought na ‘to. Hindi ba pwedeng e-honor mo siya nang hindi mo tinatapakan yung historical roots natin as Filipinos?
