CH 50-51 There was something oddly comforting about the drive home. Bangkok's traffic crawled beneath the evening sky, neon lights reflecting across rain-soaked streets from the night before. The radio played softly in the background. Neither of them felt the need to fill the silence. It had become one of their favorite things. Miu looked out the passenger window. "You know..." "What?" "I used to hate traffic." Lena chuckled. "So did I." "What changed?" Lena glanced at her for a brief second before returning her eyes to the road. "... The company." Miu smiled. "That's a cheesy answer." "I wasn't finished." "Oh?" "I meant..." "The company." She reached across the center console and lightly brushed the back of Miu's hand with her fingers. "Your company." Miu looked down at their hands. "... That's even cheesier." "I've been told I'm improving." "You are." A comfortable laugh settled between them. The kind that didn't demand a response. Instead of driving toward Miu's apartment, Lena turned onto another street. Miu noticed almost immediately. "This isn't the way home!" "I know." "Did we forget something?" "No." "Then where are we going?" Lena smiled. "You'll see." Ten minutes later... The car stopped in front of a quiet bookstore tucked between a florist and an old café. The sign above the entrance glowed warmly against the evening sky. Miu looked at Lena. "A... bookstore?" "You once mentioned you've never bought a brand-new novel." Miu blinked. "... You still remember that?" "You said you always borrowed books because they were cheaper." Lena turned off the engine. "So..." She smiled. "Let's change that." The scent of paper and coffee greeted them the moment they walked inside. Shelves stretched from floor to ceiling. Soft piano music drifted through hidden speakers. The bookstore was nearly empty. Perfect. Miu wandered through the fiction section while Lena followed a few steps behind. She watched Miu run her fingertips lightly across the spines of different novels. Not taking any. Just looking. "You can pick one." Lena said. "I know." Miu smiled. "I'm deciding." Twenty minutes passed. Then thirty. Miu still hadn't chosen. Lena eventually walked over. "You're overthinking." "I don't know which one deserves to come home with me." Lena laughed. "You make buying books sound emotional." "It is emotional." She looked at Lena. "Books stay with people." That answer made Lena smile. "Just like... someone else I know." Eventually... Miu picked a hardcover novel. She held it carefully, almost reverently. "I think this one." Lena glanced at the cover. "You didn't even read the synopsis." "I liked the first sentence." "You judged a book by its opening line?" "I did." Lena shook her head with a laugh. "You're very weird." At the checkout counter... Before Miu could reach for her wallet- Lena had already paid. "You really don't let me spend money." "You bought me coffee this morning." "That's not the same." "It counts." Miu sighed dramatically. "One day... I'll win." "I hope you do." "So you admit we're competing?" "We absolutely are." check com sec for continuation! #lenamiu #wlw #miulena #fyp #wattpad
