I was able to split the spins the the upper half would spend counterclockwise and the lower half was been clockwise

you can flip it by changing your perspective from top down to bottom up like the figure below. top down is spinning clockwise bottom up is spinning counterclockwise

You can’t reverse the spin. It will always spin clockwise. What you can change is your view on the spring. And then it appears as if would change direction. But that is an optical illusion. Just checkt it yourself. Even if it appears as if it changed direction, you will find that it didn’t.
